Conservation officers have busy BC Day long weekend


FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Deputy Chief Chris Doyle with the BC Conservation Officer Service says officers were quite busy over the August long weekend in the Peace Region.

A multi-day outreach and enforcement operation was in effect associated to angling and boat use on the Peace River.

The operation focused on compliance with the wildlife act, the fisheries act, and Canada shipping act. Officers patrolled by boat and also conducted a road check.

20 charges were issued under the wildlife act, fisheries act, firearm act, and motor vehicle act. 41 warnings were also issued.

26 fish and 1 jet boat were seized over the long weekend as well. A 24-hour driving licence suspension was also issued.
