Northern Rockies Regional Municipality (NRRM) receives $10 million from the B.C. government: Fassbender

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Community, Sport and Cultural Development Minister Peter Fassbender announced today that The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality (NRRM) received $10 million grant from the B.C. government.

The funding is for implementing the works of the second year of the 20-year Infrastructure Development Contribution Agreement.

The money will benefit the northern region by giving modern, efficient infrastructure to develop the region as a comprehensive service centre.

“Projects supported in the 2016 NRRM agreement through the infrastructure funding include airport and sewer system upgrades, water and recreation projects, and roads and drainage works, as well as the purchase of Crown land for residential development.”

Northern Rockies Regional Municipality Mayor Bill Streeper says the support is invaluable to them.

With this invaluable support from the Province of British Columbia, the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality has formulated a sustainable long-term strategy to develop and retain infrastructure that is critical to developing the NRRM as a primary service centre. Further, this important agreement moves the region forward to be able to provide a better lifestyle and standard of living for our residents.
