FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Huskies have unveiled the schedule for their upcoming 2016-2017 campaign.
The Huskies will be playing their first three games of the season on the road, with stops in Sexsmith on September 24th, Peace River on September 30th, and Fairview on October 1st. The first Huskies home game of the upcoming season will take place on October 8th, and fill feature a rematch of their season opener when the Vipers make a stop at the North Peace Arena.
Huskies General Manager Jeremy Clothier explains that the team will be spending most of the first month of the season on the road, as the city installs ice in the Pomeroy Events Centre well before the North Peace Arena, and hosting games too early in the season could wreck the ice. Clothier adds that though the team will be away for a good chunk of October, the Huskies only have one away game in November: a second game in Sexsmith on the 19th.
The Huskies will also be hosting a open tryouts in just over two weeks. The tryouts are set to take place at the Pomeroy Events Centre August 26th to 28th, and are open to any players born between 1996 and 2000. The cost is $125 per skater. Players wishing to try out can contact the Huskies’ GM at: [email protected].
