Peace Motocross Association’s final races of the season shortened due to weather

CHETWYND, B.C. – The wild weather made motocross racing interesting on Saturday in Chetwynd, as the Peace Motocross Association held their final two races of the 2016 motocross season.

Saturday’s torrential downpour helped to turn the dirt track at the Pine Valley Raceway into a genuine mud pit. Race organizers ended up having to cancel the 2nd afternoon set of motos due to the cold temperatures and lack of visibility. The 2nd set of motos also needed to be cancelled on Sunday afternoon, due to a late start while organizers waited for the track to dry up.

Yesterday saw much improved conditions that resulted in races that were far more exciting to watch after Saturday’s rain-soaked races. Over 150 riders from Fort St. John, the rest of the Peace, and as far away as Terrace took to the track making for some exciting races.

Race organizer and PMA vice president Jason Berlinger says that with the final motocross event of the season complete, the association will be handing out awards for the season’s top points-getters next month at their annual awards dinner in Beaverlodge.
