Severe Thunderstorm Watches issued for Peace River and Fort Nelson regions

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – A pair of severe thunderstorm watches have been issued for the both the BC Peace River and the Fort Nelson regions this afternoon.

Environment Canada says that conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
