Storm sewer work to cause slight havoc on 100th street and 93 ave

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The badly needed storm sewer work on 100th street and 93rd ave is about to cause some chaos.

The City says that they will most likely be crossing 100th street in the next few days, probably Friday. They will have single lane alternating traffic, but come Sunday, the entire intersection will be closed.

The City is asking that people avoid the intersection for the next week. People will still be able to access all the businesses on 93 Ave from 96 Street.

Julie Rogers with the city says this work is needed, even though it might cause a slight inconvenience.

“We’ve had two significant rainfalls this summer and in both times we had flooding in that area, so this work very clearly needs to be done.”

Fort St. John experienced major flooding on July 19th when a unexpected rainfall over over 50 mm fell in about an hour.
