FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Hospital Foundation will be hosting their first-ever Firefly Walk/Run this coming Saturday.
The family-friendly event will take place at Surerus Park and the surrounding area on Saturday evening, and will feature a “glow in the dark” theme. This year’s event will see 400 runners and walkers, and is completely sold out. Jessica Kalman with the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation says that the number of registrants greatly exceeded expectations.
Every runner will receive several complementary glow products, however participants are encouraged to deck themselves out with a “glowing” costume. There will be prizes for best glowing adult, best glowing child, and best glowing team. There will also be a number of other activities throughout the evening for everyone to be involved in.
The walk/run also marks the kickoff event for FSJ Loves Families Week. All proceeds from the run will go towards the Foundation’s Endowment Fund. The fund grows annually through the interest earned on initial contributions. Any growth added through interest to the Endowment Fund will be used to support the purchase of equipment at the Fort St. John Hospital and Peace Villa Facility.
Check-in for the Firefly Walk/Run will start at 7:00 p.m., with speeches and a brief warm up at 7:50 before joggers take to the starting gate at 8:00 p.m.
