Grande Prairie RCMP arrest alleged impaired driver

GRANDE PRAIRIE, B.C. – Police in Grande Prairie are investigating after an alleged drunk driver caused havoc in the Swan City last night.

On Thursday at approximately 9:45 p.m., members of the Grande Prairie RCMP responded to report of an erratic driver in the Lakeland area. Witnesses reported that a black Dodge Ram crossed the centre line into oncoming traffic before colliding with a parked vehicle. The truck continued driving over the sidewalk and an adjacent front lawn, striking a crosswalk sign before returning to the road for several blocks. The vehicle finally came to a stop after colliding with a second parked vehicle.

Police arrived at scene and subsequently arrested the lone male driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

Luckily, nobody was injured during the incident, and the man remains in police custody pending a bail hearing.
