Hosker wins Lakepoint Club Championship

CHARLIE LAKE, B.C. – Ritch Hosker took the crown on Sunday as the Lakepoint Golf Club Champion for 2016.

The Lakepoint Club Championship took place at the club along the shores of Charlie Lake on Saturday and Sunday. Hosker won the Championship flight after shooting a +7 151. He shot a 76 on Saturday, and improved to shoot a 75 on Sunday. Jake Lane finished five shots back from Hosker with a 156, while Travis Eggers was hot on Lane’s heals, shooting a 157.


In the Men’s First flight comprised of golfers with a handicap of 11 or more, Jim McKinnon’s 175 was good for first place. Brian Baker was only one shot back, shooting a 176, while Cory Lind came third with a score of 186 after 36 holes.

The Ladies flight saw Kelly Smeeth win with a score of 190. Smeeth shot a 98 on Saturday, before turning up the heat an shooting a 92 yesterday. Shelly March and Linda Harvey came in second and third, shooting a 193 and 199 respectively.

Gene Danyluk shot a 154 to triumph over Percy Peterkin and Larry London in the Seniors flight. Peterkin shot a 171, while London shot a 173.

The Lakepoint Golf Club will be open for the remainder of the season, until at least Thanksgiving, or after the first snow sticks.
