FORT ST. JOHN INTERNATIONAL AIR SHOW
The last group to ask the City for more funding is the FSJ International Air Show. This year, they are asking for a grant of $40,000. They were given $20,000 last year.
This year marks a special year for the airshow, as it is Canada’s 150th Birthday, as well as the anniversary of the Alaska Highway.
The show will include Canadian military acts, civilian performers and family activities. The Canadian Forces Snowbirds, CF-18 and other civilian acts have already been confirmed for the show.
The 2017 Air Show budget is expected to be between $280,000 and $330,000. The largest costs that come from the event are fuel as well as hotel accommodations.
The City did once give the Air Show $60,000. The last 2 years they have been given $20,000.
The Air Show is expecting less in terms of sponsorship as the economy has been hit hard.
