North Peace Family Super Park in urgent need of board members to keep afloat

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The North Peace Family Super Park board is in urgent need of board members, or else they won’t be able to be a non-profit group any longer or be a group all together.

Jaandi Roemer with the Super Park group says that they have lost a couple members recently. They lost the Treasurer a month ago and an Executive Director a short time before that. She says they lost those 2 people due to the economy. They need at least 5 on the board to keep the board in standing with the government.

All positions will go up for nomination on September 11th. The deadline to have a full board is September 12th when they meet with the government.

If Jaandi has to report to the government that they do not have a full board, they will have to dissolve and give all the money they have raised to a charity of their choice.

The group wants to get indoor recreation, indoor play in the City. They have contacted many groups, including the City to make it clear that they need indoor recreation, especially with winter coming and Mc Donald’s will be closing their playground for winter to do renovations, that leaves no indoor recreation for kids.

“We need more indoor recreation, we need more all-inclusive indoor play. That is our ultimate goal.”

If they have to give up the money, they would give the money to the Child Development Centre. That is something they hope they do not have to do.

Jaandi is asking anyone that is passionate about indoor recreation for childern, to come forward. There is only 1 meeting a month, and 3 fundraisers a year.
