PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – Today, the annual federal, provincial and territorial ministers of labour meeting is being held in Prince George.
The meeting is set to be co-chaired by Canada’s Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour MaryAnn Mihychuk, and Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training and Minister Responsible for Labour Shirley Bond.
The Government says that this meeting provides opportunity to bring the ministers together to “share information, experiences and ideas about Canada’s challenges and opportunities in the areas of labour policy, employment standards and occupational health and safety.”
They also look at ways to make sure employers are being fair and safe in the workplace.
Shirley Bond says Prince George is a great city to host the meetings.
“It’s great that Prince George is the location for the 2016 federal, provincial and territorial ministers of labour meeting. Prince George is a vibrant, active and diverse community, and I am proud to host my colleagues in Northern B.C. British Columbia currently leads Canada in job creation and economic growth, so it’s a good time to collaborate and discuss labour relations and policy with ministers from across the nation.”
