Two Grande Prairie residents charged after vehicle stolen near Beaverlodge

BEAVERLODGE, A.B. – A pair of alleged thieves from Grande Prairie have been charged after stealing a vehicle near Valhalla late last week.

On Thursday, September 22nd at approximately 8:30 a.m., members of the Beaverlodge RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle theft near Valhalla, where residents observed the stolen vehicle driving in the area. The vehicle was abandoned northwest of Valhalla where the two occupants fled on foot.

Officers and Police Dog Services successfully tracked down and apprehended a female suspect shortly after. Police tracked for a significant distance and were not able to find the second suspect.

The investigation lead officers to a nearby location where Police Dog Services established another track and successfully apprehended the second male suspect.

26 year-old Grande Prairie resident Hope Marlene Knight has been charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of Stolen Property and was released on her own recognizance.

31 year-old Grande Prairie resident Chance Thomas Vanpeteghan has been charged with ten criminal offences including Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property and Breach of Conditions. He currently remains in police custody.

The pair are set to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on October 20th.
