Unemployment rate drops in Northeast B.C.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The unemployment rate in Northeast B.C. has dropped slightly to 8.6 per cent in August.

The unemployment rate has dropped from a high of 9.7 per cent in March but only two tenths of a per cent since July.  The Peace region continues to have the highest unemployment rate in the Province.  The provincial unemployment rate is 5.8 per cent.  In August of 2015, the rate in Northeast B.C. was 5.5 per cent and a provincial rate of 6.1 per cent


In the Peace region, B.C. Stats says 39,200 people are working.

Victoria has the lowest unemployment rate in the Province at 4.7 per cent.
