UPDATE: Highway 97 north of the Mackenzie Junction is now reopen in both directions.

MACKENZIE, B.C. – The Hart Highway segment of Highway 97 is closed in both directions this morning due to a motor vehicle accident.

According to Cpl. Madonna Saunderson with the North District RCMP, members of the Mackenzie RCMP detachment are currently at the scene of a two-vehicle crash that involved a semi-truck and a car approximately ten kilometres north of the junction with Highway 39. One person is being treated for injuries, the extent of which are not known at this time.

The highway was closed in both directions as a result of the crash, but has since reopened to single alternating traffic.
