Northeast BC unemployment numbers increase amidst rough economy

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The unemployment rate went up to 9.4% in the Northeast region in September. That is up from 8.6% in August. In the report which was released today, it shows that 38,300 people were unemployed.

August saw 39,200 people unemployed while July saw 39,500. The report was released by BC stats today.

According to stats Canada, BC all together saw an unemployment rate of 5.7%. In September of last year, Northern BC had a 5.5% unemployment rate.
