FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The BC government announced today that they are investing $1.9 million into trades training at Northern Lights College.

The money will fund 639 seats in various trades through the Industry Training Authority, including:

  • Aircraft MaintenanceĀ Volunteer
  • Heavy Mechanical Trades
  • Electrician
  • Welder
  • Carpenter

The funding is also part of the ITA’s allocation money to post-secondary institutions and training providers to run various training programs throughout BC.

The BC government invests around $94 million annually in industry training through the ITA.

Mike Bernier, MLA for Peace River South says this funding will make students successful.

“This investment in Northern Lights College will ensure residents of the Peace have access to training in high-priority trades so they are ready to respond to the job opportunities to come. Trades training investments like this are essential to sustaining the upward momentum of B.C.’s economy.”
