Storm causes more power outages in the B.C. Peace

UPDATE – The two largest power outages in the B.C. Peace have now been restored.  There are still about 700 customers without power in rural areas around Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Chetwynd that are in the dark.

 

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Over 3,800 customers are without power in the B.C. Peace.  As of 3:30 p.m. Saturday, there are 43 power outages in the B.C. Peace.

The largest is in Fort St. John and affecting 2,400 customers.  The outage started at 2 p.m., but there is still no estimate on when power will be restored but a crew is on site fixing the outage.

The other large outage is affecting 500 customers is in the Cecil Lake, Goodlow and Doig River areas.  The lights went out in that area just before 3 p.m. There is no estimate on when power will be restored.

There are 43 power outages in the B.C. Peace with most of the outages in rural areas outside of Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Chetwynd.  For more information on each power outage, call 1-888-POWER-ON or visit the B.C. Hydro website www.bchydro.com/outages
