FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – BC Hydro has released the numbers for Site C employment in August.

The overall number of workers was 1,816, which is up from July when it had 1,721 workers on site.

There were 1,401 Construction and Environmental Contractors, 415 on the Engineers and Project Team.

Of the 1,401 Construction and Environmental Contractors, 1,200 of the workers are primary B.C. residents which is 86%.

380 of the 415 people on the Engineers and Project Team are primary B.C. residents which is 92%.

In total of the 1,816, 1,580 are primary B.C. residents which equals 87% total from B.C. BC Hydro also says that 665 (47%) are Peace River Regional District primary residents.

BC Hydro also says that during the month of August 2016, there were no workers working under the federal Temporary Foreign Worker Program from Construction and Environmental Contractors.
