City of Fort St. John proclaims December as Accessible Parking Awareness Month

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Fort St. John Mayor Lori Ackerman proclaimed the month of December as “Accessible Parking Awareness Month” in the City.

Lisa Rowbotham, Community Development Coordinator and Maxine Blennerhassett, Community Services Clerk III with the City were on hand as well as Colin, who has helped on the Accessibility Advisory Committee for years.

Council also passed a motion to use a social media campaign to recognize the work accomplished by the Mayor’s Accessibility Advisory Committee (MAAC).

“On May 4th, 2016, Council passed Resolution No. 185/16, Mayor’s Accessibility Advisory Committee (MAAC), and instructed staff to initiate a plan to recognize the decade of work accomplished by this group. City staff would like to continue the success of the MAAC’s annual Accessible Parking Awareness Campaign using the City’s various social media platforms. This campaign will coincide with the proclamation of “Accessible Parking Awareness Month” for December 2016.”
