FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Local volunteers in Fort St. John have started a fundraiser to help Santa Claus out after his boots were inadvertently stolen.
Chuck Miller, who has dressed as Santa Claus in the Fort St. John area for the past six years, was the victim of a theft yesterday morning. Miller’s pickup truck was stolen from his driveway in Taylor early Monday morning. The pickup truck is a white mid-2000’s Ford F350 diesel with a canopy on the back, and BC license plate #6596 JL. Inside the truck were a pair of boots that Miller had just finished polishing to complete his Santa Claus outfit.
Phoenix Volunteer Club vice president Erica O’Day started a fundraiser yesterday to raise money towards the purchase of a new pair of boots for Miller, whose first appearance as Santa Claus is set for tomorrow. O’Day says that she has already received over $360 in donations. Any money raised over the cost of the boots will go towards helping buy a new vehicle for Miller. Though his pickup truck is covered by ICBC, O’Day says that it could take up to 30 days for the claim to be processed.
Anyone wishing to donate to towards getting Santa a new pair of boots can reach Erica O’Day by phone at: 250-263-7557, or by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
