Huskies raising money to help cover long-time volunteer’s medical expenses

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Huskies will be taking to the ice this weekend for a pair of games, and will be raising money for someone dear to their organisation.

Eric Tobler has been a long-time volunteer with the Huskies, having served as the team’s equipment assistant for the past eight years. Tobler was injured back in August during the Red-Eye tournament in Taylor, when he was struck in the knee by a fast-moving softball. The injury was worse than initially thought, and Eric has had to spend the past few months in hospitals in Fort St. John, Vancouver, and Prince George to receive treatment for complications from the injury.

The Huskies will be giving part of the proceeds from the gate at Saturday night and Sunday afternoon’s games to Eric and his family to help cover some of the expenses they have incurred while receiving treatment. In addition, the Huskies will also have a bin to collect donations at both games.

The Huskies take to the North Peace Arena on Saturday night for a third game against the Dawson Creek Jr. Canucks at 8:00 p.m., before hosting the Beaverlodge Blades on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
