FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Lap Pool at the North Peace Leisure Pool reopened this afternoon at 3:00 pm.

The City sent out a memo saying that after the pool was closed Monday due to Pseudomonas aeruginosa being found, which is a natural bacteria, the pool had reopened this afternoon. The pool was closed as a precautionary method.

The City states that they had 2 retests come back negative for bacteria in the water. All the other pools including the leisure pool, hot tub, tot pool, water slides, steam room and sauna continued to operate as they did not contain bacteria.

The public can follow a few simple steps to help stop the spread of bacteria says the City.

“The public can aid the City in maintaining the highest of cleanliness standards for the facility by always removing outdoor footwear at the main entrance of the lobby and taking a warm soapy shower before entering the pool.”
