WEST VANCOUVER, B.C. – North Peace Secondary’s senior girls volleyball team is in North Vancouver today, practicing ahead of their first appearance at the ‘AAAA’ Girls Volleyball Provincial Championships tomorrow.

The girls are in a tough bracket, facing off against host Hansworth, as well as Seaquam and Belmont Secondary’s teams on Thursday. Team coach Dr. Elena Warkentin says that the team is going into the tournament ranked 16th out of the sixteen teams, but that doesn’t phase them. “We know we’re underdogs. We’ve never seen any of these teams before. The key is going to be playing smart, tough defence, and getting serves in,” said Warentin. “That’ll allow us to run our offence and keep putting the ball back in their court.”

The provincials run from Thursday until Saturday at both Hansworth and West Vancouver high schools. The North Peace girls take to the court fir their first match Thursday morning at 11:00 PST. The game can be streamed live here: http://sportscanada.tv/bcss/2016-girls-aaaa-vb
