Pee Wee Flyers get wins at home and on the road

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Ross H. Maclean Pee Wee Flyers won their fifth game in a row this past weekend after a pair of games at home and on the road.

On Saturday, the Pee Wee Flyers hosted the Peace River Colts. The Colts were the ones to take the early lead with a goal less than four minutes into the first period.

Trailing 1-0 after twenty minutes, the Flyers managed to fight back in the second frame. Caden Brown opened the scoring for the Flyers with an unassisted goal just past the three minute thirty mark to tie the game at one apiece. In the last minute, the Flyers then got the go-ahead on the score clock. Ethan Semeniuk scored with 34 seconds left to give the Flyers a 2-1 lead assisted by Luka VanRensburg and Caden Brown. Brown added some insurance with his second of the game thirty seconds later to put the Flyers up 3-1 going into the intermission.

Heading back on the ice in the third, Coldy Busche scored his first of the game three minutes in, assisted by VanRensburg. Semeniuk also scored his second of the game short-handed with a pass from Busche to make it a 5-1 final score for the Flyers.

On Sunday, the Pee Wee Flyers hit the road for a game in Grande Prairie. This time the Flyers got the lead and kept it through the match. Colby Busche opened the scoring in the last minute of the first period unassisted. Luka VanRensburg made it 2-0 less than two minutes into the second assisted by Grayden Alexander. While Grande Prairie did steal Finley Gibb’s shutout late in the frame, Busche answered right back with his second of the game to keep the Pee Wee Flyers’ lead at two. VanRensburg and Alexander both tallied assists on the goal.

In the third, Caden Brown, VanRensburg and Alexander each scored to help the Flyers to a 6-1 win.

The Ross H. Maclean Pee Wee Flyers are next in action this Sunday at home against Grande Prairie’s other Pee Wee team.
