FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The City of Fort St. John is hosting the annual Santa Claus Parade tomorrow as well as the Christmas Tree light-up in Centennial Park.
Tomorrow from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., the city will block traffic on 100th Street from 93rd Avenue to 100th Avenue for the parade.
The parade has been extended this year and will now proceed past Centennial Park to 94th Avenue and stop behind the Pomeroy Sport Centre. This is a new route to 2016 to increase safety for parade goers and pedestrians.
For the road closure, the City will be posting no parking signs on the parade route 48 hours in advance of the parade.
The City will post detour signs on 102nd Street and 98th Street to stop traffic from getting close to the
portion of 100th Street. Parade goers are encouraged to park on 100th Street north of 100th Avenue.
Once the parade is over, they will be doing the tree light-up in Centennial Park. The activities will include a bonfire, Christmas carols by the Northern Winds Community Band, free hot dogs sponsored by Safeway, free hot chocolate and coffee sponsored by McDonald’s, kids activities and a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
