FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Flyers hosted the Grande Prairie Athletics last night at the North Peace Arena.

Jake Ebner opened the scoring for the Flyers late in the first period, assisted by Adam Horst and Jeff Shipton.

In the second, both teams were able to put points on the board. Brody Busche put the Flyers up 2-0 with a power play goal assisted by Robbie Sidhu and Daylen Pearson in the first five minute. Over ten minutes later, Grande Prairie was finally able to squeak one by netminder Troy Hunt. Less than a minute later, Horst answered back for Fort St. John, with Shipton and Rick Cleaver making the assisting passes. Things were looking good when Grande Prairie took a late interference penalty, but it was the Athletics that would score short-handed just as their penalty was expiring to keep it a one-goal game.

In the third, the Flyers took over. Andrew Payou, Brennan Giroux, and Rick Cleaver each scored while Cleaver also recorded another assist along with Adam Horst, Shawn Holliday, Cole Calliou, Dan Pappin, and Daylen Pearson to give the Flyers a 6-2 victory.

The Flyers are back in action on the road on Saturday night for a game in Grimshaw.
