FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Minor Lacrosse Association has awarded the rights to host the upcoming 2017 Pee Wee box lacrosse Provincial Championships.

The Fort St. John Grizzles will be hosting the tournament at the Pomeroy Sport Centre and North Peace Arena from July 6 to 9th. Box lacrosse is Canada’s national summer sport, and is a growing sport here in the Peace Region. The sport has historically seen players largely from the Lower Mainland, where eight Junior and seven Senior teams compete against each other during the Spring before taking on the top team in Ontario for the Minto and Mann Cups, respectively.

City Council received the report from the Association about the hosting of the provincials, and will be working with the organisation during the upcoming Spring in order to make sure that no other teams or events are disrupted by the tournament.
