FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Huskies are back on the road once again to finish off the 2016 calendar year.
The Huskies have played ten of their last 11 games at the North Peace Arena, where they have gone 7-3-1-1 so this season. The Huskies are also 5-1-0-0 on the road, and head coach Todd Alexander says that though they won’t have a home crowd to cheer them on, the team is excited for the road trip.
The Huskies are in action on Saturday night for their fourth game this season against the Beaverlodge Blades. The Huskies have beaten the Blades 11-1 and 21-2 on home ice so far this season, but lost their only away game against the Blades 8-6 on October 15th. In that game, the Blades’ Evan Tordiff scored six goals for Beaverlodge, and Alexander says that good defence and shutting down Tordiff’s game will be crucial if the Huskies want to get the two points.
On Sunday, the Huskies will be heading to Clairmont for a game against the Grande Prairie County JDA Kings. The Huskies have a 1-1 record against the Kings, with both teams winning in their respective home barns. However, Alexander said after their loss to Grande Prairie back on October 29th that the game was much closer than the 4-1 final score would lead one to believe.
The puck drops on Saturday night at 8:00, and on Sunday afternoon at 2:00. Both games can be streamed live on the Huskies’ Ustream page here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/akPGzbb9eNa.
