FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Many will remember a local teen, Kaden, who decided to make Christmas ornaments and donate all the proceeds to the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society.
After a lot of hard work, Kaden recently handed over a cheque for $4160.00.
Kaden’s mom, Pam Hagen, says she estimates Kaden made around 200 ornaments. He didn’t sell out of ornaments but he well surpassed his goal of money he wanted to raise.
While Kaden was making the ornaments, he received support from other communities as far as the States.
“The amount of the support from the community and even people that don’t even live here, we had people all the way from Williams Lake, Vancouver and then even deep down into the States that wanted to order (ornaments) just because of the cause.”
Kaden’s ornaments were bought and will end up around the world, his mom says.
“People came saying that one lady bought 2 ornaments and 1 ornament was going to Italy and 1 was going to Switzerland. So after Christmas, because they are gifts, she is going to send us pictures when they have been received and opened.”
His initial goal was to raise between $500 – $1000. It is safe to say that Kaden raised that and then some, showing that giving back to his community is so important, especially during the Christmas season.
