FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Northern Lights College International Department recently uploaded a pretty cool video but didn’t think it would gain such attention.

“Bhangra In The Snow” was done by students at Northern Lights College but they weren’t expecting such a response like the one they have received.

Cleo Baker who works in student support with Northern Lights College says they wanted to help spread some joy. She has been with the dance group since it started.

“We weren’t expecting this big of an impact. We were really hoping it would bring some joy around and get people to realize you can have a lot of fun in the north but we had no idea it would be this popular. People say this makes them smile and they watch it over and over.”

As of this afternoon, the video had 635 shares and almost 35,000 views.

One of the students put on Bhangra dance classes every Monday and Wednesday during this semester and a bunch of people participated.

“We went and we danced and we had fun and we had people from the community dancing.”

She says the college supported them and helped take the video. They then posted it on the Facebook page and it has since gained lots of attention.

The video was taken a couple weeks ago. Baker says the temperature was around -7 degrees but says they had no trouble staying warm.
