Prince George RCMP searching for man wanted for over 20 years

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – The Prince George RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted for sexual offences that occurred in Prince George more than 20 years ago.

Rupert William Burr is a 55 year-old former resident of Prince George who has been wanted in B.C. since 1998 for offences that occurred in 1993. Cpl. Craig Douglass with the Prince George RCMP says that Burr’s outstanding arrest warrant was extended to a Canada Wide Warrant today.

In 1994, Burr was described as: Caucasian, standing 6’0” tall, weighing 221 lbs, with brown hair and green eyes. Burr also had scars on his left wrist and the bridge of his nose. Cpl. Douglass says that police do not have a photo or a composite sketch of Burr.

Burr was born in Alberta in 1961 and is believed to have resided in Worsley, Alberta as recently as 2015. It is also believed that he is aware that he is wanted and may be using a false name.

If you have any information about Rupert William Burr or where he might be, please contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 222-8477.
