UPDATE:  Eyewitnesses report the incident happened well before 5:40 a.m. and suggest it may have happened as early as 4:30 a.m.  We are still awaiting official information from the RCMP.

 

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – According to DriveBC.ca and reports on social media, there has been a collision near the Taylor Bridge.

Details are limited at this time, but DriveBC.ca has confirmed Highway 97 is reduced to single lane alternating traffic near the bridge.  Motorists can expect up to a 20 minute delay in the area.

Drivebc.ca reports the collision happened at approximately 5:40 a.m. and 2km south of Taylor, while reports on social media suggest the collision happened on the bridge.

The Fort St. John RCMP have not released any information at this time and have not returned any calls to the media.  As more information becomes available, we will update this story.
