FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The RCMP are investigating what could have caused fire to erupt at the Mono Court Apartments on 97th Ave. early yesterday morning.

The Fort St John Fire Department got the call of a fire at the building on Sunday morning  at around 4:14. Upon arrival, smoke was visible from a second-floor apartment. The fire was contained to one apartment and was extinguished just before 5:00 a.m.

Deputy Fire Chief Darrell Blades says that the unit where the fire was contained sustained damage to the contents, while the second story of the building suffered smoke damage. The apartment building itself did not sustain any structural damage, and evacuated residents have returned home.
