LAS VEGAS, N.V. – Jake Watson is now the fifth ranked Saddle Bronc rider in the World after placing 2nd at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

Watson jumped from 15th to 5th in the world Saddle Bronc rankings after earning 745.5 points in ten rounds from December 1st to 10th.  Fellow Canadian Zeke Thurston from Big Valley, Alberta ended up taking home the top spot at the rodeo, and is now ranked Number 2 in the world.

Watson rode to a 77.50 on Heart of Gold in the first round, and only improved from there. After a series of mid-80’s performances, Watson rode Times Up to an 87.00 on Day 6 to take a brief lead in the standings. His only missed ride of the ten day rodeo came in Round 9.

Watson also walked away with over $54,000 in prize money this past weekend.
