Fort St. John jet boat finishes first overall at Peace River Gold Cup

PEACE RIVER, A.B. — A jet boat racer from Fort St. John finished first overall at this past weekend’s Weaver Peace River Gold Cup Championship.

Gord Humprey piloted Unnatural Disaster on the race’s four legs in a total time of 1:17:40 this past weekend. Humphrey finished first in the UL MacMillan Construction division ahead of four other racers in the class. His time was also the fastest overall in last weekend’s race.

Two other jet boat drivers from Fort St. John were also competing in the Peace River Gold Cup. Racing in the CX Contracting division, Trapper Wolsey finished 4th in that division at the wheel of his boat, Leroy. Trapper Wolsey recorded a time of 1:49:07, while Clayton Wolsey finished in 7th out of 13 racers. Clayton piloted Dirty Harry to a time of 1:50:58.
