Fort St. John Metis Society booth robbed during Canada Day festivities

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Metis Society is out a large sum of money after they were robbed during Canada Day festivities.

RCMP in Fort St. John say that at approximately 1:00 p.m., an unknown male came up to the booth and stole a large amount of money.

Police learned that the male suspect dropped his hat, bent down to pick it up near the front of the food table at the Metis booth and then reached underneath the booth and grabbed a bag of money and immediately walked northbound away from the table.

Police say there was excess of $1,000 in the bag.

The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • Between the ages of 50-55-years-old
  • 5 feet 9 inches tall
  • Medium build
  • Balding with grey hair around the sides of his head
  • Last seen wearing a blue shirt, black shorts and black baseball cap
