Highway 97 closed between Dawson Creek and Chetwynd

UPDATE #2 – The highway re-opened early Sunday morning in both directions.  

UPDATE – There is now a detour in place.  The detour will use 237 road to 208 road to 239 road and it will be flagger controlled. Estimated time to open between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Sunday. Next up date 5:30 a.m.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – Highway 97 is closed due to a motor vehicle incident near the Mason Road between Dawson Creek and Chetwynd.

According to Drivebc.ca, Highway 97 is closed 15 km south of the Junction with Highway 2 because of a collision.  A Drivebc.ca web camera located near the intersection with the Mason Road shows a vehicle on it’s side and covering the entire highway.  The camera also shows the collision happened at around 4:20 p.m. Saturday.  There is no estimate on when the highway will re-open.
