Peace River Regional District Board agrees to send machinery to help fight wildfires

CHARLIE LAKE, B.C. – The Peace River Regional District Board voted today to send two pieces of machinery to help the wildfire situation in the Central Interior, should they be needed.

Chief Administrative Officer Chris Cvik says the Board agreed today to release a Brush Truck and Side X Side if required from the Charlie Lake Fire Department.

Cvik says they were aiming to ensure that they could help those down south while also being prepared should a similar situation unfold here.

“Discussion was around trying to assist with the need in the South, while ensuring that residents in Electoral Area B and C still had proper fire protection coverage.”

The Regional District originally said they wouldn’t be sending any apparatus to ensure fire protection coverage for Electoral Are B and C but that brought frustration to those involved with firefighting, saying that without equipment, manpower would be useless.
