FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Preparations are well underway for the MRI machine that will be placed at the Fort St. John Hospital.
The work being done is to ensure that the room is secure and safe, which is required with MRI machines.
Copper shielding is currently being installed that will insulate the room. The machine could be operational by this fall.
In 2014, partnerships with foundations and the ministry of health were formed and began a 10-year medical imaging strategy that would help identify care closer to home.
The reason for the placement of the MRI machine in Fort St. John is because the hospital had set aside space that could be used for future placement of an MRI unit when it was built.
