RCMP arrest male after altercation in Pouce Coupe

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – The Dawson Creek RCMP have just released details about a domestic dispute in Pouce Coupe on June 13 of this year.

The Dawson Creek RCMP responded to a call of a domestic altercation at a residence in Pouce Coupe.  When officers arrived on scene they were advised that the male suspect had fled the area. Officers entered the house to confirm that no one else was inside for officer safety reasons. Upon a search of the house the officers located the suspect male hiding in a deep freezer.

After the male was removed from the deep freezer he allegedly failed to follow officer direction. The male was carrying a blanket that appeared to be concealing something large. Police Services Dog Dirks was on scene and engaged the suspect. The suspect threw the blanket on Dirks at which point officers noted that the object hidden in the blanket was what was believed to be an AR15 type of long gun.

The male allegedly pointed the firearm at officers and continued to not follow any police direction however the officers were close enough to engage the male and after a physical struggle were able to apprehend him without using any lethal action.

The male suffered minor injuries and was released from hospital into police custody. The male is known to police and currently remains in custody.
