FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for both the B.C. Peace and Fort Nelson regions today.
Environment Canada says that conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms late this afternoon over the Peace and the southern sections of the Fort Nelson region. These thunderstorms may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
Environment Canada previously issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Peace Region this morning at approximately 3:00, after a large thunderstorm was tracked by meteorologists.
