Dawson Creek firefighters get help tackling fire at LP OSB plant

The LP OSB Plant in Dawson Creek.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Members of the Dawson Creek Fire Department were part of a collaborative effort to put out a fire that started at the Louisiana Pacific OSB Plant over the weekend.

Deputy Fire Chief Bob Fulton said that the call came in just before 8:00 p.m. last Saturday. Fulton said that a team of 15 firefighters responded to a fire that was located in the roof of the OSB plant, above the plant’s press room. Firefighters were helped in the fight against the flames by LP staff, who had gained the upper hand on the fire by the time fire crews arrived.

With the help from plant staff, the fire department was able to contain the fire to the immediate area of the presses, and stop the fire extending into the roof spaces over the rest of the plant. Fulton added that nobody was injured during the fire, and that the damage to the plant was minimal.
