POUCE COUPE, B.C. — Officials with Caribou Road Services are warning motorists of freezing rain and incredibly slick road conditions in the South Peace today.

In an email statement, CRS said that freezing rain is reported to be falling in several spots in the South Peace, while the Pine Pass received freezing rain all night during the overnight hours. Maintenance crews are asking motorists to slow down and drive to the road conditions in the area and to watch for changing conditions.

CRS says it has deployed salt trucks to try and melt some of the freezing rain that has coated area highways. The trucks travel at a maximum speed of 25km/h when they are applying salt, and often travel along highway centrelines. CRS is also urging motorists to follow at a safe distance and give them space to work.
