GRANDE PRAIRIE, A.B.  –  A 14 year-old girl in Grande Prairie is facing a charge of animal cruelty after the RCMP received complaints of a video posted on social media showing an animal being abused.

The teen, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is facing a charge of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal under section 445.1(1) of the Criminal Code.

Mounties say they have confirmed that the animal involved in the incident was not injured. The teen is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on March 19th.
