FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Officials with School District 60 closed the Prespatou School on Tuesday because of a mechanical issue.

Superintendent Dave Sloan said that the school’s administration was made aware of an electrical problem shortly before 9:00 a.m. Sloan said that the school district has dispatched maintenance personnel to the school to fix the problem, and the district is hoping that the problem will be solved by the end of the day.

Sloan said however that due to the presence of an electrical smell in the school, the decision was made to send students home for the day. He added that the school will be closed until the problem is rectified, but that the school district will be providing updates to the situation on its website throughout the day today:
