FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — School District 60 has made a final decision on the changes to school catchment areas that will take effect next fall.

At Monday evening’s meeting, the school board voted in favour of Scenario C, which will see students from a large portion of the west end of Fort St. John and the surrounding area attending the new Margaret ‘Ma’ Murray Community School starting in September. The adoption of Scenario C also means that students in the English program at École Central Elementary School will move over to ‘Ma’ Murray, resulting in the end of Central’s English program.

The School District gathered feedback from residents starting last October when three different proposed catchment areas were unveiled by the School District. A fourth scenario, which combined elements of Scenarios A and D was unveiled earlier this month but was ultimately not adopted.

The School District said that staff will be working through the details of the catchment area decision, including posting more information to the school locator tools on the District’s website as it becomes available.
