$4,000 from Crystal Cup fees put towards local Scholarships

Hockey teams battle it out on day two of the 7th Annual Crystal Cup Pond Hockey Challenge

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – After a hugely successful weekend of hockey on Charlie Lake, the  Crystal Cup Executive Committee announced that portions of the registration fees from the Sid Davis Memorial, Crystal and Coal Cups will be donated to two local funds.

The North Peace Secondary School’s Darren Ofterbro Memorial Bursary fund for students wanting to pursue a career in welding and other trades will receive $2,000. While the Sid Davis Hockey Scholarship fund will also be getting $2,000.

This year’s event attracted roughly 80 hockey teams consisting of players from across Western Canada, as they put their weekend plans on hold for a weekend of hockey.
