Free Wi-Fi installed at commercial vehicle inspection stations in Northeast B.C.

VICTORIA, B.C. — The provincial government announced today that it has installed free Wi-Fi at three commercial vehicle inspection stations in Northeast B.C.

The government said it is currently in the process of installing free Wi-Fi at all weigh scales and inspection stations across the province, which it said will improve safety and efficiency for professional drivers. The Wi-Fi-enabled inspection stations will allow commercial drivers to check DriveBC for highway delays or closures affecting their route, obtain transport permits for future trips, and stay connected to family, friends, and colleagues back home.

On average, the government said that Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement officers conduct more than 25,000 vehicle inspections each year, issuing violation tickets and removing unsafe vehicles from provincial roadways on a daily basis.
