GRANDE PRAIRIE, A.B. – Police in Grande Prairie are asking for the public’s help in locating a vehicle after a pedestrian was struck last night in a hit and run.
At approximately 11:55 p.m. Wednesday, the RCMP were called out to a report of a 38-year-old woman that was struck by a vehicle while walking southbound on 100 Street between 87 Ave and 88 Ave. Witnesses reported seeing an older model black Ford pickup truck swerving on the road before locating the woman lying in a snowbank.
The driver of the truck did not remain at the scene and drove off, though the truck did sustain front-end damage after pieces of the vehicle were found at the scene. The woman was transported to hospital and remains in critical condition.
Police are encouraging the driver to do the right thing, come forward, and report the collision. Cpl. Shawn Graham with the RCMP said officers are actively following up on this investigation.
